Assam: One dead, two injured in Guwahati landslide

A landslide triggered by incessant rains took place in Kahilipara area of Guwahati killing a 62-year-old woman and injuring two others.

A 62-year-old woman died and two others were injured in a landslide in Guwahati on Friday.

The incident took place at Kahilipara powerhouse area in the capital city of Assam. The landslide was triggered by the incessant rains.

According to reports, the landslide destroyed a house in the area and three of a family were trapped under the debris.

Later, NDRF, SDRF and local police personnel rescued the injured and admitted them to a nearby hospital.

A 62-year-old woman who injured later died at the hospital.

Himangshu Das, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Guwahati city police, said, “Three people were injured in the incident and they were rushed to the hospital.

Earlier this month, at least 20 people including several minors were killed in several landslide incidents in Assam’s Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi districts.
