A preliminary inquiry has been registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation against former Jammu & Kashmir minister Choudhary Lal Singh. Singh had quit BJP over Kathua rape case in 2018 and floated a party Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan (DSS).

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated a probe against an educational trust run by former Jammu & Kashmir minister Choudhary Lal Singh in connection with a corruption case. Singh who had quit BJP over the rape and murder of a minor in Kathua.
Sources have told India Today that a preliminary inquiry has been registered by the agency on allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and land grabbing by RB Educational Trust, which is run by Choudhary Lal Singh. The former minister is also under scanner for allegedly illegally allowing sale and purchase of forest land.
Sources say that Singh allegedly misused his position as minister and using his educational trust as cover, purchased reserved forest land using false certificates and forged documents. Singh was State Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology in BJP-PDP led J&K government.
A preliminary inquiry is the first step by CBI to probe an allegation and if facts are found true, an FIR is registered in the case based on the available evidence.
Singh had quit the Bhartiya Janta Party over Kathua rape case in 2018 and floated a party Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan (DSS).
