Delhi increases coronavirus tests by 4 times, conducts 21,144 tests in a day, says Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said the national capital on Friday conducted its highest number of coronavirus tests in a single day.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday that the national capital increased coronavirus testing four times and conducted 21,144 tests in a day on Friday to detect Covid-19 patients.

Arvind Kejriwal also said that Delhi is now following the strategy of “very aggressive testing and isolation” and conducted the highest number of tests in a day.

In a tweet, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Delhi conducted highest no of tests in a single day yesterday – 21,144. We have increased testing 4 times. Delhi now following strategy of very aggressive testing and isolation.”

Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal had announced the coronavirus testing in Delhi had increased more than three times in view of the rising number of infections in the national capital. “The coronavirus testing in Delhi has now been increased from 5,000 per day to 18,000 per day,” Arvind Kejriwal said.

However, at over 21,000, Delhi on Friday tested its highest number of coronavirus tests in a day.

The number of Covid-19 containment zones in Delhi will increase in the coming days after a re-mapping of such areas as authorities have decided to divide them into micro clusters for better surveillance and contact-tracing, officials said on Friday.

Meanwhile, a serological survey to undertake a comprehensive analysis of coronavirus in Delhi and prepare a broad strategy to combat the pandemic will be carried out in the national capital from Saturday, the Union Home Ministry has said.
