Khalistan Liberation Front module busted, three arrested

A team of Special Cell, Delhi Police has arrested three supporters of the Khalistan movement who were allegedly planning to execute targetted killings in various states in northern India on the directions of Pakistani ISI-sponsored Khalistani leaders. The police arrested Mohinder Pal Singh, Gurtej Singh and Lovepreet.

Three pistols with seven live cartridges have been recovered from their possession. One iPhone and two Android phones have also been recovered with many incriminating videos and photographs related to Khalistani movement and their propagators, police said.

A tip-off was received regarding the activities of one activist of the Khalistan Liberation Front, identified as Mohinder Pal Singh, who was planning to commit terrorist activities in Delhi.

Acting on this input, a trap was laid down near Ganda Nala, Hastsal, Delhi on June 15 and at about 9 pm, the accused were caught after being overpowered by the police team. During interrogation, the accused disclosed his identity as Mohinder Pal Singh, a resident of Delhi and permanent address as Deewan Bagh, Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the search, one sophisticated pistol with two live rounds was recovered from him. Accordingly, a case was registered in appropriate sections of the law.

On further interrogation, Mohinder Pal led the team to Samana in Punjab and on his intel, one Lovepreet alias Lovely was arrested and two illegal firearms with five live rounds were recovered from him. The duo later led the team to Mansa, Punjab from where the third co-accused Gurtej Singh was arrested.

The arrested persons have disclosed their links with KLF leaders settled abroad and revealed their plans to commit targetted killings on instructions from Khalistani militants sponsored by ISI.

ACCUSED REVEAL WELL-PLANNED CONSPIRACY

Gurtej Singh was reportedly in touch with a Pakistani ISI handler namely Abdullah and Avtar Singh Pannu of Sikhs For Justice (banned in India) and Gopal Singh Chawla, who is based in Pakistan and is a close aide of 26/11 attack accused Hafiz Saeed. Although he was inclined towards the Khalistani movement for long, it was in January 2019 that he met Narayan Singh Chaura in Chandigarh and expressed his willingness to contribute actively to the cause. He was then included in the 21-member Hawara committee. He started luring youth and succeeded in inducting Lovepreet and more than 5 other youth into the movement.

During interrogation, he further told that he had identified some targets including one follower of Ram Rahim who was involved in Burj Jawahar Singh Wala sacrilege incident, one Shiv Sena leader from Amritsar and also one person who had slapped Jagtar Singh Hawara. He further disclosed that he had arranged a pistol from local sources and had planned to extort Rs 10 lakh from two local businessmen for arranging more weapons and giving momentum to his plans.

Through one common contact, he obtained the mobile number of one Abdullah in Pakistan, who is from Pak ISI. Abdullah exhorted him to recruit fresh youth for training in terror incidents in Pakistan. Gurtej then convinced Lovepreet and some others for training in Pakistan. They planned to cross the border from Taran Taran area. After crossing the border, Abdullah would arrange for their training in ISI centre near Peshawar in Pakistan. But due to lockdown, the plan could not be put into action. Gurtej Singh was also in contact with Avtar Singh Pannu who is the SFJ coordinator in the US; SFJ is a banned organization in India.

Mohinder Pal Singh also started meeting Khalistani supporters during court hearings of Jagtar Singh Hawara and was influenced to join the movement.

21-year-old Lovepreet Singh initially worked at a computer repair shop and developed an inclination towards the Khalistan movement three to four years ago. In 2017, he met one Baljeet Singh at Gurudwara Sahib in Amritsar and one Bagicha Singh. They called him to pro-Khalistan rallies where he met Gurtej Singh. Gurtej enticed him to join the Khalistan movement under the guidance of Jagtar Singh Hawara and promised to send him to Pakistan for weapons training.

He is very active on Social Media Platforms and is in contact with other Khalistan movement members and 21 Hawara committee members in India and abroad through Facebook and Whatsapp. He has made a Facebook Page by name ‘KhalsaBhindrewalaji’. He had shared several incriminating videos with posters/photos and songs supporting Khalistan leaders and the Khalistan movement.
