Central Board of Film Certification’s chief Prasoon Joshi has expressed his discontent over one of the scenes of Swara Bhasker’s new show Rasbhari.
He took to Twitter to express his displeasure and wrote, “Saddened by web series #Rasbhari’s irresponsible content portraying a little girl child dancing provocatively in front of men drinking. Creators & audience need to seriously rethink Freedom of expression or freedom of exploitation? Let’s spare children in the desperate need for entertainment (sic).”

Swara explained the scene in response to Prasoon. She wrote, “Maybe you are reading the scene wrong. The scene is different from what you have described. The kid is dancing on her own will. Her father is ashamed to see her. The dance is not provocative, the kid is just dancing, she isn’t aware that the society will even sexualise her – this is what the scene shows.”

In the scene that Prasson is referring to, we see Swara’s younger version, played by a little girl (played by Mannat Sharma), dancing on Saat Samundar Paar. She is fond of dancing. Seeing her dance, her father’s friends, who are drinking, tell him to keep his kids in control.
Rasbhari revolves around the story of a young man named Nand (played by Ayushman Saxena), who falls for his teacher Shanu (Swara). The show is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
